A Quick Overview of the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing hazardous wastes at arrival on site, ensuring site compliance requirements are met, and implementing strict health and safety measures. This role requires a self-driven, confident, and solution-driven individual who can work effectively as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receiving chemical waste onto site from industrial and commercial sites
  • Ensuring paperwork for incoming waste is compliant and correctly completed
  • Immediate testing of incoming waste to ensure conformity with paperwork and pre-acceptance criteria
  • Further laboratory testing as needed with techniques including flash point testing, pH testing, visual checks, odour, viscosity
  • Working alongside site operatives to ensure that waste is processed, stored, and transferred in a safe, compliant, and timely manner
  • Assisting with the control of material flows through the site and ensuring container stocks are maintained to avoid delays and backlogs
  • Bulking/re-packing of waste to achieve maximum profitability
  • Supporting other site staff to ensure all are working efficiently and collaboratively
  • Running morning briefings, coordinating teams, and delegating activities to meet production requirements
  • Assisting with site compliance and health and safety requirements and their strict adherence

Requirements

  • Minimum HND in Chemistry or similar qualification with significant chemistry content
  • Industrial experience preferred in the chemical or waste industry
  • Supervisory or leadership experience beneficial
  • Applications from chemistry graduates welcome in consideration for junior roles
  • Good organisational and influencing skills
