Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive individual to become a vital part of our Medical Engineering and Medical Device Library teams. This role involves managing medical equipment and providing technical assistance across the Trust and to various healthcare providers in the region.

Your primary duties will include the retrieval, sanitization, and redistribution of medical devices to different clinical settings, along with general administrative tasks such as inventory management, database updates, and maintaining a clean and organized workshop. You will also support senior engineers by assisting with stock orders as needed. While some technical tasks may arise, they will be performed under supervision.

This position is situated in a dynamic environment, making it ideal for individuals who excel in fast-paced technical settings. The role involves managing multiple priorities and adhering to tight deadlines, which can be highly rewarding for the right candidate.

Additionally, you will be required to operate the Trust's vehicles to ensure efficient collection and delivery of medical devices within the community. All tasks must be executed with a strong emphasis on quality and safety.

You will collaborate closely with all stakeholders involved in the use of medical equipment, including Trust personnel, other NHS organizations, departmental colleagues, manufacturers, and service providers, to ensure the highest standards of service delivery at optimal costs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the collection and delivery of medical equipment to local wards and departments, as well as external locations.
  • Maintain the stores and ensure the workshop is kept clean and organized.
  • Provide assistance to other engineers as needed and facilitate stock ordering as directed by senior staff.
  • Engage in technical tasks as required, under supervision. Please note that this is not a trainee position.
  • Drive the Trust's vehicles to ensure efficient collection and delivery of medical devices within the community, maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
  • Liaise with all users of medical equipment within the Trust, other NHS organizations, departmental colleagues, manufacturers, and service vendors to ensure the Trust provides and receives the highest standard of service at the lowest cost.

Candidate Profile

Required Knowledge & Experience

  • Proven experience in record keeping.
  • Experience collaborating with others in a technical environment.

Preferred Qualifications & Education

  • GCSE qualifications in five subjects, including Mathematics, English, and a science subject.
  • A valid UK Manual Driving License.
