About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. As a Pharmacy Team Lead, you will play a crucial role in managing and supporting the development of our medicines optimisation service and team within the Women's and Children's wards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the ward-based Medicines Optimisation service for Women's and Children's service at Heartlands and Good Hope Hospitals.
  • Ensure that the clinical area meets its quality, activity, and financial targets related to medicines.
  • Develop and provide ward-based medicines optimisation services, including management of ward stock, medicines reconciliation, medicines supply, patient and staff education on medicines, and transfer of care around medicines.
  • Support the day-to-day management of ward-based pharmacy technicians, leading and motivating staff to achieve the aims of the trust.
  • Work collaboratively with the team to develop and implement standardised approaches across the service.
Requirements
  • GCSEs in Mathematics and English (Grade B/5) and four other subjects including Science (Grade C/4).
  • Or equivalent qualifications as defined by the General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • Dispensing Accuracy Accreditation, West Midland's scheme or equivalent.
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development.
  • Professional Registration with the GPhC.
  • Accredited Checking Technician (National Framework).
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Accredited Checking Technician (National Framework).
  • Experience working as a Clinical Pharmacy Technician or similar capacity.
  • Deputising for senior personnel, co-ordinating daily work flow, including situational staff management.
  • Experience in setting up new working practices or procedures.
  • Participation in the training and mentoring of staff.
