Job Title: Chief Inspector of Education in Scotland

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled individual to lead our education inspection function in Scotland. As Chief Inspector of Education in Scotland, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of education in Scotland, ensuring that our schools and education system are of the highest quality.

About the Role

The Chief Inspector of Education in Scotland will be responsible for leading a team of inspectors who will work with schools, local authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure that education in Scotland meets the highest standards. You will be responsible for developing and implementing inspection frameworks, policies, and procedures that will drive improvement in education across Scotland.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of inspection frameworks, policies, and procedures that drive improvement in education across Scotland.
  • Oversee the work of inspectors and ensure that they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to carry out their roles effectively.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including schools, local authorities, and other education providers.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to Scottish Ministers and other stakeholders on education policy and practice.
  • Contribute to the development of education policy and strategy in Scotland, working closely with other government departments and agencies.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong track record of leadership and management experience, preferably in a education or inspection context. You will also need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. In addition, you will need to have a deep understanding of education policy and practice in Scotland, as well as the ability to think strategically and make informed decisions.
