About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate nurse to join our team as a Community and Special School Nurse for Children with Disabilities. This is an exciting opportunity to work with children and young people with complex health needs and disabilities, providing holistic, family-centered care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, deliver, and evaluate clinical nursing care for children and young people with complex health needs and disabilities.
  • Deliver specialist nursing care, including administration of medication, suctioning, tracheostomy care, gastrostomy management, and enteral feeding.
  • Provide holistic family support, including signposting to specialist services and delivering specialist training for families and care support staff.
  • Attend multi-professional meetings, including child protection case conferences, and provide health advice for education, health, and care plans.
  • Nurse sleep service, supporting children with sleep difficulties, reviewing sleep medication, and offering support and strategies to parents.
  • Mentor, support, and supervise junior staff and student nurses.
About You
  • Registered Children's Nurse (RN Child/RSCN) or RGN with relevant experience.
  • Minimum 2 years post-qualification experience in nursing.
  • Community/special school nursing experience.
  • Experience working with children and young people with disabilities/complex health needs.
  • Knowledge of statutory legislation and national policy drivers affecting children's services.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal.
  • Experience supporting staff and students and providing supervision.
  • Ability to work independently and manage own workload with minimal supervision.
  • Safeguarding knowledge and experience.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Car driver and access to a car for work purposes.
