We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive nurse to join our Children's Community Nursing Team, based at The Moor Lane Centre, Chessington. As a Community and Special School Nurse for Children with Disabilities, you will deliver holistic, family-centered care for children and young people with complex health needs and disabilities.
Key Responsibilities- Assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of clinical nursing care.
- Delivery of specialist nursing care, including administration of medication, suctioning, tracheostomy care, gastrostomy management, and enteral feeding.
- Holistic family support for children/young people and their families, including signposting to specialist services.
- Delivery of specialist training for families and care support staff.
- Attendance at multi-professional meetings, including child protection case conferences.
- Providing health advice for education, health, and care plans.
- Nursing sleep service - supporting children with sleep difficulties, reviewing sleep medication, and offering support and strategies to parents.
- Mentoring, supporting, and supervising junior staff and student nurses.
- Registered Children's Nurse (RN Child/RSCN) or RGN with relevant experience.
- Minimum 2 years post-qualification experience in nursing.
- Community/special school nursing experience.
- Experience working with children and young people with disabilities/complex health needs.
- Knowledge of statutory legislation and national policy drivers that affect children's services and your role.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal.
- Experience supporting staff and students and providing supervision.
- Experience working with challenging families and ability to manage conflict.
- Ability to work independently and manage own workload with minimal supervision.
- Safeguarding knowledge and experience.
- Ability to work well as part of a team.
