Knowledge Requirements
The ideal candidate should possess at least an SVQ level II qualification in Social Care or a related field, along with hands-on experience in a supportive capacity, assisting clients with their personal care plans. The ability to work independently and demonstrate a mature, self-sufficient demeanor is essential, particularly in responding to unexpected situations with composure and adaptability.
Registration with the SSSC is mandatory, and a satisfactory enhanced PVG check is required.
The successful applicant will participate in training outlined in the Unit's training and staff development plan, specifically regarding medication administration.

Work Schedule: 5-week rota, including weekend shifts
Annual Weeks: 52
Please be aware that it is the policy of Midlothian Council that successful candidates will be appointed at the initial point on the salary scale.
The minimum actual salary for this role, based on 24 hours over 52 weeks per year, is £17,92 per annum. For 36 hours over 52 weeks, the minimum actual salary is £25,88 per annum.
Essential Requirements
This position is classified as Regulated Work with Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act. Therefore, it is illegal to apply if you are barred from working with Protected Adults.
Successful candidates will need to have PVG Scheme membership for Regulated Work with Protected Adults. You will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to starting employment, with the associated costs being your responsibility.
