About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Claims Handler to join our Fleet and Specialist product team at Acorn Insurance & Financial Services LTD. As a Senior Claims Handler, you will play a critical role in managing a portfolio of motor claims from start to settlement, ensuring exceptional service and relationship management to our Fleet customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Claims Validation and Assessment: Validate all claims for indemnity and fraud, assess liability, and communicate our decision to claimants or representatives in a timely manner.
  • Claimant Communication: Establish our exposure in respect of all Heads of Damage, ensuring key information is obtained and updated on the claim file.
  • Quantum Assessment: Accurately assess claims presented using relevant tools and identify cases where intervening on vehicle losses will reduce our overall exposure.
  • Indemnity Spend Management: Minimize indemnity spend through commercial decision making and proactive diary management to monitor and progress cases.
  • Reserve Management: Apply and investigate to ensure accurate reserves in line with company guidelines.
  • Performance Accountability: Account for own performance against set objectives and adhere to best practice and key strategies.
  • File and Portfolio Management: Effectively manage files and portfolios, and assist with coaching and mentoring of less experienced handlers.
Requirements
  • Strong Insurance Background: A working knowledge in indemnity and experience in handling Injury claims outside of the Low Value Personal Injury claims Portal.
  • Persuasive Communication: Persuasive, strong, and confident communicator with the ability to relationship manage and use own initiative to explore all options to achieve the best outcome for the business.
  • Commercial Awareness: Significant PI and/or credit hire claims experience, commercial market awareness, and extensive working knowledge of the Pre-Action Protocol, Civil Procedure Rules & hourly rate costs.
  • Team Player: Ability to work as part of a team, work in a culture of openness, trust, and respect, and have strong organisation skills with the ability to prioritise tasks.
