Acute Medical Ward Staff Nurse

We are seeking a Band 5 Nurse to contribute to the Acute Medical Ward B6. In this role, you will collaborate with the senior nursing team to enhance service delivery, ensuring the provision of exceptional patient care.
As a Staff Nurse, you will engage with a multi-disciplinary team to guarantee that care provided is Safe, Personal, and Effective for all patients.
Our Practice Education team is dedicated to supporting staff in their professional development within these roles.

Main ResponsibilitiesYou will be accountable for assessing nursing needs and developing care programs, as well as implementing and evaluating these plans. You will perform all relevant nursing duties independently and provide guidance to both qualified and unqualified staff.

Detailed Responsibilities Main Duties:
1. Assessor of Nursing:
1.1 Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments through interviews and observations.
1.2 Maintain precise clinical observations of patient conditions.
1.3 Analyze data to assess patient progress.
1.4 Identify and discuss nursing needs with patients, families, and team members.
2. Planner of Nursing:
2.1 Establish priorities for patient care.
2.2 Set realistic goals within care plans.
2.3 Organize time, resources, and personnel for effective care delivery.
3. Practitioner of Nursing:
3.1 Provide skilled nursing care to patients and their families.
3.2 Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately.
3.3 Communicate effectively with patients, families, and colleagues.
3.4 Collaborate with medical and paramedical staff in care delivery.
3.5 Ensure that individual patient needs are assessed and addressed.
4. Evaluator of Nursing:
4.1 Contribute to establishing nursing care standards.
4.2 Assess the quality of care provided to patients.
4.3 Measure goal achievements with patients and their families.
4.4 Adjust care plans based on evaluations under the Primary Nurse's guidance.
5. Learner/Researcher of Nursing:
5.1 Pursue new knowledge in nursing and health through continuous education.
5.2 Seek to acquire new skills.
5.3 Apply research findings to nursing practice.
6. Teacher of Nursing and Health:
6.1 Assess learning needs of patients, families, and staff.
6.2 Instruct patients and staff on nursing practices.
6.3 Demonstrate nursing skills to patients and staff.
6.4 Reflect on learning experiences with patients and staff.
6.5 Assist in evaluating the progress of learners and junior staff.
6.6 Advise the public on health promotion and illness prevention.
6.7 Provide recognized training and participate in the assessment of support workers.
7. Manager of Nursing:
7.1 Assess tasks to be completed.
7.2 Organize staff and resources for effective work completion.
7.3 Supervise the quality of care delivered.
7.4 Provide feedback to team members.
7.5 Manage reports of work activities.
7.6 Identify training needs for junior and untrained staff.
7.7 Coordinate care among nursing and medical staff.
7.8 Address complaints according to Trust policies.
7.9 Assist in maintaining safe work systems.
8. Professional Responsibilities:
8.1 Adhere to legal and statutory requirements in practice.
8.2 Take responsibility for personal development and training.
8.3 Discuss personal progress with ward leaders.
8.4 Maintain professional standards of conduct and appearance.
- Registered 1st Level or equivalent as verified by the NMC
- Knowledge of current research relevant to the specialty.
- Ability to absorb new ideas and skills.

- Capable of managing care for multiple patients and prioritizing tasks independently.
- Proficient in calculating medication dosages.
