Job Description

The Operational Resilience team at AJ Bell is a first-line assurance oversight team that works closely with colleagues across the business to understand our business services, their underlying processes, and ensure their dependencies are mapped, regularly tested, and reported appropriately.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver a varied program of work as documented in the Operational Resilience Roadmap and Plan.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with Business Service Owners and other stakeholders.
  • Initiate regular sessions with business SMEs to ensure accurate recording of underlying resources.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date policy, procedure, resilience plans, and other documents.
  • Participate in business service reviews with Heads of Department, ensuring discussions are documented appropriately.
  • Ensure timely completion of annual review documents, including in-depth analysis of various data sets.
  • Work with stakeholders to document and maintain resilience mapping documents.
  • Assist in developing, designing, and delivering resilience tests, including desktop exercises, data analysis, communication testing, and simulation exercises.
  • Perform lessons learned analysis following scenario testing, influencing stakeholders at all levels.
  • Assist in delivering and documenting lessons learned exercises following operational disruption.
  • Produce clear and accurate management information and reporting for a senior-level audience.
  • Identify vulnerabilities and work with the business to document necessary contingency plans.
  • Assist with collating and documenting Third Party Supplier resilience assurance, including developing MI to show progress.
  • Participate in group training exercises and awareness activities to ensure operational resilience is embedded in the culture at AJ Bell.
  • Participate in the Operational Resilience Groups, Forum to ensure timely escalation of vulnerabilities.
  • Keep the Operational Resilience Manager up to date on progress and findings from all operational resilience-related activities.
Requirements
  • At least three years' experience in Financial Services or strong experience working on a project, leading a small team, or experience within a risk, compliance, or oversight role.
  • Ability to quickly review, interpret, and articulate complex processes.
  • Able to communicate proactively and confidently to influence stakeholders across the business.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to effectively manage own time.
  • Forward thinking and anticipates deadlines without prompting.
  • Demonstrates excellent listening and questioning skills.
  • Able to write concisely for a senior-level audience.
  • Enjoys collaborating with others and working as a team.
  • Has a strong sense of ownership and seeks out opportunities to self-develop.
  • Experience of data analysis.
  • Previous experience of stakeholder management with effective influencing skills.
  • Has a genuine interest in resilience and strengthening our capabilities and contingency planning.
  • Experience of presenting to small groups would be an advantage.
  • Experience of independently coordinating group exercises, tests, or working sessions would be a distinct advantage.
