Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust is seeking a highly motivated and ambitious individual to join our multidisciplinary team as a Consultant Physician in Stroke Medicine. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-standard care to the local community.
Main Duties of the Job
The stroke unit is a combined stroke unit and will be an Acute Stroke Centre (ASC) from July 2024. The current unit is located on Ebony ward. There are 2 Consultant Stroke physician posts advertised.
The post holders will join a team of 6 WTE stroke consultants, one of whom is a long-term locum. The team includes Junior Doctors and two SpR/Registrars who form part of the medical workforce.

Job Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Participating in ward rounds, including HASU and ASU patients
- Leading clinics, including stroke and TIA clinics
- Chairing weekly stroke ward MDT meetings
- Participating in regional out-of-hours on-call, using Telemedicine
- Performing weekend ward rounds in the stroke unit
Person Specification
Qualifications
- Full GMC Registration
- MBBS or equivalent
- MRCP (UK) or equivalent
- Holds CCT or equivalent, or will obtain within 6 months of interview date
Knowledge
- Clinical Governance principles
Attitude

Experience
- Wide experience in Stroke Medicine
- Full and independent management of clinical patient workload
- Experience of teaching doctors-in-training and undergraduates
- Experience of clinical audit
- Experience of collaborative clinical or laboratory research
