A newly established position has emerged for a Director of Commercial Finance to become a vital part of the University's Finance team. This pivotal role will be essential in improving the University's commercial returns and offering strategic financial guidance for economic growth and international projects.

The University generates over £100 million annually from commercial activities, with plans for expansion as it invests in new ventures and seeks partnerships to enhance economic development both locally and internationally.

Reporting directly to the Executive Director of Finance, you will lead the strategic and operational advancement of the University's commercial finance initiatives, focusing on value creation, growth, and revenue generation aligned with the University's strategic goals.

This position will have a broad impact across the University, requiring engagement with senior internal stakeholders as well as external partners, funders, and clients.

To succeed in this role, you must demonstrate a proven history of leadership and achievement at a senior financial level, particularly in complex, large-scale environments. You should possess substantial post-qualification experience in corporate finance and commercial finance.

Exceptional negotiation skills in high-value, long-term agreements are essential, along with in-depth knowledge of project financing, contractual agreements, and financial structures.

The ideal candidate will be a strategic visionary capable of formulating and executing effective strategies and policies. You should also have extensive experience in managing and nurturing high-performing teams to achieve excellence, including overseeing third-party specialists.
