Position Overview

Role: Patient Pathway Administrative Coordinator - Band 3

This role presents a unique opportunity for a motivated individual to enhance their administrative capabilities while contributing to a dynamic team environment.

The successful candidate will serve as the primary contact for all administrative matters concerning the patient's care journey, collaborating closely with medical professionals and fellow administrative staff.

The responsibilities include addressing patient inquiries through various communication channels, scheduling clinical appointments, optimizing resource utilization, resolving issues, and coordinating with healthcare providers.

Main Responsibilities

The individual in this role will act as the central point of contact for all administrative concerns related to the patient care pathway. Working within a multi-disciplinary team, the coordinator will assist in the effective management of the patient journey from initial referral through to discharge, ensuring a seamless experience.

To maintain high levels of satisfaction among patients and clinicians, the coordinator will be an approachable, customer-oriented, and knowledgeable resource. A consistent approach will be upheld across the organization, guided by Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that outline the role's functions and associated timelines.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Criteria:

  • Minimum of Grade C or equivalent in Mathematics and English
  • Commitment to ongoing personal and professional development
  • Proficiency in IT systems, including Microsoft Office
  • Experience in scheduling appointments and managing healthcare administrative processes
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients and colleagues
  • Understanding of confidentiality and data protection
  • Experience in a multicultural environment and working under pressure

Desirable Criteria:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration or Customer Care
  • Experience in handling patient complaints
  • Knowledge of cancer pathways and RTT guidelines
