Job Title:

Nuclear Safety Engineer – Site Safety Case

Location:

Flexible working with occasional travel to Barrow-in-Furness when required

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct deterministic nuclear safety assessments for the build and commission of Dreadnought and future class submarines
  2. Author nuclear safety cases, incorporating results of deterministic and probabilistic analyses of submarine build and commission activities
  3. Perform ALARP assessments of new and legacy facilities and equipment
  4. Define, agree, and implement safety case requirements
  5. Lead and develop a team of nuclear safety engineers
  6. Manage internal and external interfaces, including Engineering Authorities, Human Factors, and regulatory bodies
Requirements:

Essential:

  1. Degree-level qualification in a relevant discipline (engineering or physical sciences)
  2. Previous experience in safety analysis and safety case production for high-hazard industries

Desirable:

  1. Chartered engineer (or actively working towards this) desirable
  2. Previous experience working for a nuclear site and/or on the submarine programme
  3. Relevant nuclear and/or safety degree programmes at Heriot-Watt, Aberdeen, Cranfield, Strathclyde, Manchester, Liverpool, or Birmingham

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong background in nuclear safety engineering. As a Nuclear Safety Engineer, you'll be part of a team responsible for producing safety cases for the Dreadnought and Site Redevelopment Programmes.
