Assertive Outreach Specialist

Berry Recruitment is seeking a skilled Assertive Outreach Worker to join their team on a 6-month contract. This role is based at the company's offices and involves working with a local authority to address homelessness in the community.
The hourly pay rate for this position is £14.98, and the working hours are 37 per week, Monday to Friday. The successful candidate may be required to work outside of normal working hours on occasion.
The primary objective of this role is to engage with individuals experiencing homelessness, build relationships, and support them in accessing essential services, including benefits, healthcare, and accommodation.
Own transportation is preferred, as the role requires travel to various locations throughout the community.
An Enhanced DBS check is required for this position.
The key responsibilities of this role include:
- Engaging with individuals experiencing homelessness in their locations
- Supporting them in accessing benefits, welfare services, and healthcare
- Collaborating with Homelessness and Housing Advice Officers and other support workers
- Ensuring individuals are encouraged to work towards a personalized support plan
- Accurately recording and updating support plans, meeting notes, and reports
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A minimum of 2 years' experience working with individuals with mental health issues, substance misuse, and debt issues
- An understanding of the challenges faced by vulnerable individuals with health and welfare needs, particularly those experiencing homelessness
- Knowledge of the welfare benefit system and the benefits applicable to clients
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Administration and data entry experience
