About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Bid Manager to join our Account and Bid Management Team at Energy Systems Catapult. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing applications for grant and tender funding, working closely with internal teams and external partners to develop complex bids that differentiate us from competitors and respond to client challenges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Bid Management Process: Facilitate kick-off and strategy meetings, contribute to the design, approach, and development of our proposition, and ensure timely submission of bids.
  • Manage Grant and Tender Applications: Write, edit, and contribute to the generation of responses to Grant Funding Applications, Requests for Information, Requests for Proposals, Pre-Qualification Questionnaires, Invitation to Tenders, and other submissions as required.
  • Create Compelling Responses: Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop relevant, original, and compelling responses that reflect client requirements and differentiate us from the competition.
  • Coordinate Bid Submissions: Ensure timely submission of bids, maintain good relationships with stakeholders, and communicate bid status effectively.
  • Embed Best Practices: Research and identify bidding opportunities, analyze tender alerts, and determine suitability for business. Embed the latest tools and technologies into our bidding process, including generative AI and cutting-edge design packages.
  • Manage the Bid Library: Oversee the management and governance of the Bid Library, an on-going document resource for all future proposals and bids.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Degree or equivalent, with previous experience in managing grant and/or tender applications.
  • Proven Track Record: Proven experience within bid management and/or business development, with a strong understanding of the energy sector.
  • Skills and Qualities: Excellent communication and writing skills, with the ability to work at pace and meet deadlines. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and planning skills, including the ability to prioritize and negotiate competing goals.
  • Technical Skills: Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Office packages.
