Job Title: Children's Home Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Children's Home Manager to join our team at 4Recruitment Services. As a key member of our residential care team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our children's home, ensuring the highest standards of care and support for our young residents.

About the Role:
  • Assist the Registered Manager in discharging their duties under the Children's Homes Regulations 2015, Ofsted Regulations, and quality standards.
  • Lead a staff group of Residential Support Workers, acting as a corporate parent to unaccompanied asylum-seeking children, ensuring their protection and care until they move to a more permanent home.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Registered Manager in maintaining the living environment to meet the requirements of the Children's Homes Regulations 2015.
  • Establish good working relationships with Ofsted officers and Independent Visitors to ensure cooperation with inspection processes.
  • Manage day-to-day operations, monitoring professional practice and delivering services within procedures, including responding to safeguarding concerns.
  • Complete handover meetings, ensuring Residential Support Workers understand tasks, responsibilities, and deadlines.
  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date records for every child, maintained by Residential Support Workers, are clear, accurate, and available for review.
  • Plan and coordinate appointments, ensuring children attend and Residential Support Workers complete records on the same day.
  • Complete Incident Reports and submit to the Registered Manager, addressing concerns regarding children's, staff, or third-party behaviors and safety.
  • Assist the Registered Manager with bedroom availability, ensuring beds are available for new arrivals.
  • Ensure Residential Support Workers complete checklists for children's belongings and rooms upon arrival and departure, accurately accounting for money and home accounts.
  • Develop and implement a weekly activity planner, providing stimulating and meaningful learning activities for children, encouraging engagement and participation.
  • Work flexible shift patterns to monitor, feedback, and ensure effective implementation of practice by the team.
  • Promote equality, anti-discriminatory behavior, and encourage children and staff to express their wishes and feelings.
  • Complete regular formal supervision and practice development plans with Residential Support Workers.
Requirements:
  • GCSE Level or equivalent education, or NVQ Level 3 in Caring for Children and Young People.
  • Evidence of relevant professional development.
  • Experience working with children or young people in a residential setting, leading a small staff team, and working with Ofsted regulations.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Effective communication skills, verbal and written, using various tools with children and professionals.
  • Ability to lead a staff team, role-modeling good practice.
  • Ability to prioritize, work independently, and ask for support and guidance as needed.
  • Computer literacy, excellent use of IT and software systems, including Liberi.
  • Willingness to attend training opportunities, supervision, and team meetings to improve practice.
  • Ability to travel to meet service requirements.
  • Commitment to equalities and promoting diversity in all aspects of work.
Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of Child Development.
  • Broad knowledge of processes, systems, law, and regulation impacting children in local authority care.
  • Knowledge of issues affecting children, including CSE, gangs, and the Prevent agenda.
