Job Title: Ecology Team Leader

We are seeking an experienced Ecology Team Leader to join our team at WSP. As a key member of our ecology team, you will be responsible for leading a team of experts in ornithology, terrestrial, biodiversity, and aquatic (including marine) specialists.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead a team of ecologists to plan workload, career, and personal development, resourcing, wellbeing, and oversee technical quality.
  2. Develop and deliver survey programmes, devise and deliver pragmatic, cost-effective mitigation, gain regulator agreement, and supervise implementation on-site.
  3. Provide site- and office-based support to develop and mentor junior team members.
  4. Liaise with other disciplines within WSP to expand awareness and engagement with the Scotland ecology teams.
  5. Nurture an enthusiastic, supportive, productive, and fun working environment.
  6. Avail of a generous training and career development budget to complete training (in-house and external) to help with own personal development and career progression.
Requirements:
  1. An appropriate academic qualification in a related discipline and membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management.
  2. Experience of staff management and a passion for developing and mentoring individuals as they progress their careers at WSP.
  3. A proven record of supporting clients through devising and delivering survey programmes, developing pragmatic, cost-effective mitigation, gaining regulator agreement, and supervising implementation on-site.
  4. Experience of Ecological Impact Assessment and writing EIA Reports.
  5. Project management experience and skill with medium to large-scale projects.
  6. A proven record of winning work from commercial clients, particularly in the energy, highways, and local government sectors.
