Job Title: Sales and Business Development Manager

The Opportunity

Leonardo is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sales and Business Development Manager to join our Business Development and Sales team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a world-leading RF Countermeasure (RFCM) solutions provider, serving new and existing UK, US, and International customers.

The role can be located at any Leonardo site, and we are open to discussing flexibility and part-time working arrangements. The core RFCM development team is based at our Luton site.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading BriteCloud and EW Payloads sales campaigns for NATO and the Middle-East. They will have a good understanding of the UK and international defence and aerospace market, as well as the critical importance of EW in coalition operations.

The role will involve considerable external level engagement with platform operators, commercial partners, mission data integrators, and end users. The candidate must have excellent communication skills and be credible when engaging with customers to shape and influence requirements.

Responsibilities include:

  • Securing order intake to meet forecast targets for current and future years by generating and managing a portfolio of key campaigns and opportunities.
  • Working closely with Integrated Campaign Teams and across the wider company to lead and/or support bid activity.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with customers, end users, and industrial partners.
  • Fulfilling a critical coordination role, developing and maintaining relationships with key internal stakeholders, including International Marketing, the Capability function, Sector IPTs, and other functional areas.
  • Utilizing internal company procedures to ensure that opportunities are identified, tracked, and accurately reported to senior management.
  • Effective management and utilization of the Leonardo Business Winning process to prosecute campaigns.
  • Providing input and general support for communications events, including exhibitions, demonstrations, and conferences.
Requirements

We are looking for a self-starter and highly motivated individual with:

  • Relevant sector experience and commercial knowledge, particularly in the value of EW and Air platforms.
  • Excellent communications skills, capable of confidently briefing to senior stakeholders across industry, government, and the military.
  • Commercially and financially aware, preferably with experience of negotiating and closing complex deals in the international marketplace.
  • Output-oriented with a focus on achieving clear and ambitious goals.
  • Strong leadership and motivational skills, able to lead a team to successfully deliver quality output during high-pressure bid and customer response activity.
  • Able to write compelling marketing content and proposals.
  • Knowledge of international trade compliance regulations and export control procedures.
