As a Buyer Assistant, you'll get to kick start your buying career in this fast-paced role.

To support your development, you'll have the opportunity to complete a Level 4 apprenticeship in Buying & Merchandising. You'll be able to start your apprenticeship after 3 months of joining the team (subject to eligibility).

As part of this role, you'll be responsible for:

  • Helping to manage supplier relationships in line with the category strategy
  • Selecting and negotiating product ranges and pricing
  • Keeping tabs on the competition so we can set competitive prices
  • Analysing trading performance and recommending actions to drive our business
  • Supporting the Senior Buyer in negotiating product ranges – cost pricing, additional terms, exclusivity, distribution, stock availability
  • Pricing the product range in line with agreed category CPI targets

You will need:

  • 1-2 years' experience of being part of a buying function (as an Assistant Buyer or Administrator) and a great working knowledge of technical products
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • To be organised, analytical and numerate with good judgment
  • Strong commercial awareness and a sense of customer needs
  • Marketing/Merchandising/Retail/Business Degree
