We are currently seeking a Senior Manager - Component & Plant Structural Analysis to play a crucial role in our mission to enhance diversity within the nuclear industry.

Role Overview:

Reporting directly to the Chief Design Engineer for Components and Mechanical Equipment, the Senior Manager - Component and Plant Structural Analysis will provide strategic leadership across all facets of structural analysis, supporting both component development and the broader plant operations.

This position represents a senior leadership opportunity within our newly established Components and Mechanical Equipment team, which encompasses all hardware associated with the SMR power station solution. The successful candidate will be responsible for building team capabilities to meet the rigorous demands of the business while fostering strong leadership and collaborative relationships.

The selected individual will spearhead the structural analysis function within the organization, ensuring it aligns with all requirements throughout the product lifecycle. As the landscape evolves, it is essential for the candidate to exhibit flexibility and agility in leadership.

The role entails leading, managing, and developing a team to deliver a comprehensive suite of structural analysis methodologies, processes, and tools, effectively supporting the program and establishing the team as the design authority in their area of responsibility. The candidate is expected to adapt and grow alongside the business and team as they evolve.

Key Responsibilities & Achievements:

This senior leadership position will expand as the organization grows, including team size, scope, and budget. The individual will be expected to evolve in their role as part of their professional development. This role will require leadership across multiple locations and collaboration with suppliers both nationally and internationally, necessitating occasional travel.

Essential Qualifications:

  1. Proven experience in applied structural analysis within nuclear component and plant development.
  2. Experience leading large, complex projects and engineering teams.
  3. Knowledge of structural analysis methods and their application, particularly in relation to component and/or plant safety cases within the Nuclear Industry.
  4. Ability to cultivate relationships at all organizational levels.
  5. Demonstrated self-motivation and the ability to inspire others to achieve product development maturity aligned with program demands.

Educational Background:

  • Experience as a senior leader in structural analysis with a strong track record of delivering complex integrated programs and a high aptitude for people leadership.
  • A strategic thinker comfortable navigating challenges within a developing business.
  • A history of leadership and successful delivery of large, complex nuclear product development programs.
  • Chartered Engineer status or equivalent qualifications.
  • Technical degree or equivalent educational background.

Compensation and Benefits:

We offer a salary range of £68,000 to £89,000 (Dependent on Experience) along with:

  • Performance-related bonus of up to 17%
  • Benefits allowance of £5,500 for a customized package
  • Pension contributions of 12% employer and 6% employee
  • 28 days of holiday plus public holidays, with the option to buy or sell up to 4 days
  • Private medical insurance through BUPA
  • Life assurance equivalent to 6 times pensionable pay
  • One-off payment of £250 for home office setup
