The ideal candidate will be a Chartered Civil/Structural Engineer with a solid history of successfully delivering design projects from initial feasibility through to practical completion. You will oversee the technical direction of our clients' projects, requiring credibility, competence, and technical excellence. This role necessitates close collaboration with both internal and external clients, decision-makers, industry stakeholders, and other consultants to devise robust design solutions through proactive management of client expectations, providing leadership in both technical delivery and team management.

A developed understanding and presence within the local market is essential. You should be capable of steering our business to leverage market conditions effectively and possess extensive experience in preparing bids and pursuing tender opportunities.

Our multidisciplinary design and engineering services cover a wide array of sectors, and our proven track record of delivery positions us at the forefront of some of the most challenging and exciting engineering projects globally. These sectors include Education, Commercial, Residential, Airports, Defence, Energy, Civil Infrastructure, and Rail.

This key role presents an exciting and rewarding opportunity to apply your knowledge, experience, and problem-solving skills to lead and grow a significant segment of our business. There is also potential for future management responsibilities within the structures team, contingent upon demonstrating the requisite people skills.

Key Experience:

  • Degree-qualified Civil / Structural Engineer.
  • Chartered (CEng) Civil / Structural Engineer with a recognized industry profile.
  • Extensive postgraduate experience in major structural engineering projects, including expertise in producing low embodied carbon solutions.
  • Proven track record in design delivery, with specific experience in steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and timber designs from concept to detailed execution, including foundation design and structural analysis.
  • In-depth knowledge of design codes and standards relevant to structural engineering.
  • Proficient in 2D and 3D design software packages and their application at the project level.
  • Experience in construction implementation with a proven record of site supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver technically excellent design projects on time and within budget.
  • Sound commercial acumen within the consultancy sector.
  • Effective communicator (written, verbal & presentations).
  • A natural curiosity for developing innovative, cost-effective, and low carbon solutions for clients.
  • Adept at team building, fostering the technical excellence of our growing team.
  • Able to inspire and motivate others.
  • Proven success in developing client relationships and securing new consultancy work.

Responsibilities:

  • Technical oversight for successful structural engineering design delivery, ensuring all necessary technical governance is adhered to.
  • Identify opportunities, lead, and support business development and bidding activities.
  • Establish, develop, and maintain relationships with key and prospective clients.
  • Line management and technical development of our structural engineering team.
  • Client and stakeholder engagement.
  • Coordination and management of inputs from other disciplines into projects.
  • Financial responsibility for the structural fee on projects, where leading.
  • Our Infrastructure team leverages innovation, new methodologies, and data analytics to assist clients in delivering comprehensive projects and programs for essential future infrastructure.
