Catalyst 4 Change is committed to enhancing the capabilities and networks of user-led, voluntary, social enterprises, grassroots organizations, and businesses to ensure effective mental health care is accessible.

We offer a variety of services for grassroots mental health and wellbeing providers in the West Midlands, including advocacy, guidance, events, and more.

We are currently seeking a Research & Evaluation Manager to oversee the execution of specific outputs and requirements from various internal and external research and evaluation funded initiatives.

Research & Evaluation Manager – Role Overview:

You will assist the Black Thrive Research Institute and Observatory (RIO) in establishing itself as a leading authority on data, developing the necessary conceptual resources for Black Liberation and fostering significant systemic change through insights derived from Black-led research.

In this role, you will lead, coordinate, and potentially execute high-quality research and evaluation efforts, facilitating the dissemination of pertinent research, policy formulation, and best practices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a diverse portfolio of projects, ensuring successful execution and attainment of outputs.
  • Design and implement project activities utilizing appropriate research and evaluation methodologies.
  • Maintain thorough documentation, including ethics approvals, proposals, and budgets.
  • Communicate effectively with project partners and funders, providing regular updates.
  • Conduct comprehensive data analysis and present findings in agreed formats.
  • Develop and implement Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) frameworks to track project progress.
  • Facilitate the recruitment of service users, caregivers, and community members for research initiatives.
  • Prepare progress reports and updates for funders, stakeholders, and senior management.
  • Create engaging content for newsletters, blogs, and digital platforms.
  • Collaborate on joint research opportunities and fundraising initiatives.
Research & Evaluation Manager – Required Qualifications:

Essential Skills & Attributes:

  • Proven experience in designing qualitative and/or quantitative research and evaluation projects, applying methodologies to fieldwork (e.g., semi-structured interviews, focus groups).
  • Experience in project planning, oversight, and delivery.
  • Ability to lead, coordinate, and execute fieldwork.
  • Knowledge of ethical guidelines for conducting research and evaluation.
  • In-depth understanding of the experiences of individuals of African and Caribbean descent.
  • Strong knowledge of race, equality, and systemic racism affecting individuals and communities.
  • Proficiency in processing, transcribing, cleaning, analyzing, and presenting data.
  • Experience in report writing and dissemination of findings and recommendations.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in designing and delivering research and evaluation projects within the voluntary sector.
  • Experience working effectively with voluntary sector organizations.
