Position Overview

Are you a seasoned Speech and Language Specialist with a passion for working with children? This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute significantly to service enhancement and provide leadership to fellow professionals.

We invite you to explore a position within our Pediatric Speech and Language Therapy team, focusing on delivering specialized therapy and guidance for children and adolescents in educational environments, particularly those with comprehensive support plans.

Your responsibilities will include managing a dedicated caseload while collaborating with educational institutions within your designated area. Additionally, you will provide clinical oversight for the Speech and Language Therapy teams at specific educational facilities, which encompasses direct peer mentorship, assessment and monitoring of caseloads, and facilitating discussions regarding professional development. You will also work closely with local leadership to ensure effective service delivery.

Candidates should possess extensive experience and expertise in addressing the needs of children with intricate requirements. This includes proficiency in evaluating and managing swallowing disorders, as well as the assessment, implementation, and education surrounding various augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) methods.

You will receive robust support from a dedicated locality manager and benefit from ongoing peer collaboration within the team. This position also presents opportunities for professional growth and advancement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Extensive experience in working with children with complex needs, including assessment and treatment of diverse conditions.
  • Evaluation and intervention for swallowing disorders.
  • Assessment, implementation, and education regarding AAC.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource, providing specialized clinical guidance and support to other healthcare professionals and organizations.
  • Independently manage a defined caseload of highly complex patients while collaborating within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Contribute to service delivery across various clinical settings, with a focus on the Special School Service.
  • Provide clinical leadership to the mainstream schools service team, including peer supervision and professional development discussions.
  • Collect and analyze data related to the mainstream school service team to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Collaborate with the locality lead for Speech and Language Therapy to manage the Special School Service team.
  • Actively contribute innovative ideas and lead the development and implementation of service enhancements.
  • Plan, deliver, and evaluate formal and informal training for other healthcare professionals, patients, and caregivers across various settings.
  • Ensure the efficient organization and provision of services, including coordinating junior staff and assistants to meet service objectives.
