This is an exciting opportunity to join the Moray Council team as an Administrative Support Officer, providing efficient and effective reception and clerical support services within the school.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a general reception service to members of the public and visitors to the school, ensuring a welcoming and professional environment.
- Perform general clerical duties, including data entry, filing, and record-keeping.
- Utilize typing and word processing skills to produce high-quality documents and reports.
- Assist with bookkeeping and financial tasks as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the smooth operation of the school.
Requirements
- Experience working in a busy office environment, utilizing relevant technology and equipment.
- Significant clerical/administration/typing experience, including production of letters/reports, filing, cash handling, and dealing with the public.
- Proficiency in a range of computer packages, including Microsoft Office, Excel, Access, and other software relevant to the role.
- 4 SQA standard grades or equivalent (at level 3 or above, including English and Mathematics/Arithmetic).
- Advanced keyboard qualification (RSA II in typing, audio typing, word processing) or equivalent working knowledge of Microsoft software packages.
- Ability to use initiative when required, with a flexible approach and open to different ways of working.
- Self-confidence and self-motivation, with effective communication skills (oral and written).
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to record information accurately and demonstrate a high standard of numeracy and literacy.
- Strong customer care skills and focus, with the ability to work on own and as part of a team.
- Sound knowledge of software packages, including Microsoft Office.
- Ability to prioritize workload, in accordance with objectives and targets, and respond to conflicting and competing demands.
- Ability to relate well with all levels of staff, with a willingness to accept direction/delegation.
- Appreciation, acceptance of, and commitment to the importance of confidentiality.
- Ability to work in a shared office environment, with flexibility to meet the needs and demands of the service.
