Position Overview
The Operational Resilience Compliance Specialist serves as a key authority on Operational Resilience, tasked with ensuring that NS&I's suppliers adhere to established Operational Resilience standards. This role encompasses:
- Monitoring supplier adherence to the Operational Resilience Policy, ensuring operations align with our risk appetite and are substantiated through testing.
- Overseeing the execution of supplier testing and assurance strategies to confirm timely and thorough completion.
- Providing second-line oversight of suppliers' Business Continuity Management Systems, certified to the BSI ISO22301:2019 standard.
- Challenging suppliers to demonstrate effective controls for managing and mitigating Business Continuity risks.
- Assisting in the development and execution of NS&I's Corporate Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) in alignment with ISO22301:2019.
- Supporting NS&I's Gold Strategic Command in crisis management responses to incidents affecting the corporate landscape.
- Contributing to reports on testing and assurance activities for senior management, including the Risk Management Committee.
Operational Resilience Policy Management
- Engaging in the management of an Operational Resilience policy that aligns with best practice standards, including FCA guidelines, to facilitate resilient operations within our risk appetite.
- Fostering transparent relationships with second-line functions in key suppliers to ensure compliance with contractual obligations regarding operational resilience.
- Participating in oversight forums with key suppliers to monitor their compliance with operational resilience policies and standards.
- Supervising supplier operational resilience assurance plans to ensure activities are executed within agreed timelines and are comprehensive.
- Collaborating with suppliers to develop a suite of Risk Management Information, including key risks, controls, and KRI/KCI metrics for effective monitoring of operational resilience risks.
- Contributing to reports detailing findings from testing and assurance activities for senior management, including the Risk Management Committee, providing assurance over risks and threats to NS&I's operations.
Supplier Business Continuity Management
- Assisting in the oversight and assurance of suppliers' BCMS, certified against the BSI ISO22301:2019 standard.
- Reviewing suppliers' documentation related to their Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) and providing constructive challenges regarding key risks that may affect service delivery to NS&I.
NS&I Corporate Business Continuity Management
- Supporting the development and implementation of NS&I's corporate Business Continuity Management System (BCMS).
- Assisting NS&I's Gold Strategic Command in responding to incidents impacting the corporate environment.
Candidate Profile
Essential Qualifications
- Business Continuity qualification such as Certificate of Business Continuity Institute (CBCI) and at least Associate Member of BCI, working towards full Membership, Diploma, or substantial industry experience.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in overseeing the implementation of operational resilience strategies, policies, standards, processes, and guidelines.
- Experience in challenging suppliers regarding their business continuity and operational resilience control frameworks.
- Expertise in managing multiple stakeholders at all organizational levels to facilitate strategic decision-making.
- Strong ability to plan, organize, delegate, and utilize resources effectively to achieve objectives.
Essential Technical Knowledge
- In-depth knowledge of operational resilience principles, the Business Continuity Institute's Good Practice Guidelines, and BSI ISO22301:2019 standard for Business Continuity Management Systems.
- Capability to analyze complex technical information to provide sound advice and guidance.
