Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service is seeking two talented individuals for the role of Media and Communications Officer. We offer both full-time and part-time, permanent and temporary positions, with a competitive salary of £28,770 - £32,076 per annum.

Position Overview:

As a vital member of our Corporate Communications team, you will engage in a variety of communication activities, including social media management, media relations, and content creation. You will report directly to the Corporate Communications Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Craft and disseminate key messages across multiple platforms to effectively engage with our communities.
  • Support innovative campaigns by developing social media content and creating materials that promote safety awareness.
  • Respond to media inquiries promptly, providing information on incidents and coordinating interviews to uphold the reputation of Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service.
  • Identify and promote newsworthy stories that showcase the positive contributions of our service.
  • Represent the Corporate Communications team at various events, fostering strong relationships with partners and local media.
  • Assist in delivering essential internal communications to keep our workforce informed.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Strong time management skills to effectively handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Experience in creating and managing communications for diverse audiences.
  • Proficient in handling media inquiries and facilitating interviews during significant incidents.
  • Attention to detail in producing press releases and social media content.
  • Collaborative team player with a track record of achieving objectives.
  • Skilled in researching and compiling information for reports and communications.
  • Experience with website content management systems.
  • Familiarity with design software such as Canva, InDesign, or PremierPro.
  • Experience using social media platforms for content creation.
