Ealing Talking Therapies is on the lookout for a Lead Psychological Wellbeing Specialist (PWS) who has completed the specialized PWS Talking Therapies training and is eager to advance their career within our esteemed and supportive team. Our step 2 team is well-established, comprising both trainee and qualified PWS professionals. We offer a diverse array of CBT-based interventions, including group sessions, individual consultations (both in-person and via telephone), and online therapy (cCBT), alongside conducting assessments through telephone and face-to-face interactions. The successful candidate will have the chance to co-facilitate a step 3 group, participate in additional training, and gain experience in conducting relevant service audits.

Key Responsibilities

Lead PWS professionals engage in a variety of clinical tasks, delivering sessions via telephone, in-person, online, and in group formats. Flexibility is essential, as sessions may occur in various locations.

To ensure accessibility for our clients, all staff members are expected to provide at least one evening session. We are open to considering part-time arrangements for suitable candidates.

Qualifications

Essential

  • IAPT Low Intensity worker/Psychological Wellbeing Specialist qualification

Desirable

  • An upper second class honors degree or higher in Psychology.
  • Eligibility for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society.
  • Additional postgraduate training in relevant areas of professional psychology, mental health practice, and/or research design and analysis.

Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience working with individuals facing mental health challenges and/or other disabilities.
  • Proven ability to deliver a range of evidence-based IAPT low intensity interventions, including CCBT, Guided Self-help, and workshops.
  • Reflective and supervised post-qualification experience within an IAPT Service.

Desirable

  • Experience in a paid role as an Assistant Psychologist or Graduate Mental Health worker, under the supervision of an applied Psychologist.
  • Experience providing supervision to others in a therapeutic or helping profession.
  • Experience working with clients presenting risks to themselves.
  • Experience with individuals whose children are subject to Child Protection legislation.
  • Experience collaborating with staff from other agencies (e.g., health visitors or drug and alcohol services).
  • Experience in audit and research activities.

Knowledge

Essential

  • Understanding of various models of mental health and mental illness.
  • Familiarity with NHS policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Sensitivity to diversity issues, including working with black and minority ethnic groups.
  • Awareness of severe and enduring mental health conditions (e.g., psychosis, bipolar disorder).
  • Knowledge of outcome measures and their application in clinical and audit contexts.
  • Ability to apply psychological knowledge within a mental health framework.
