About the NPD Support Specialist Role

In this pivotal role, you will assist the NPD Manager in executing the company’s product development initiatives.

This dynamic position encompasses all facets of New Product Development (NPD) from initial concept through to the launch of innovative products, alongside the ongoing enhancement of the current product lineup.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct laboratory trials for NPD, existing product enhancement, new ingredients, and packaging, while preparing comprehensive reports.
  • Perform physical chemical analyses such as viscosity, pH, and Brix, and execute sensory evaluations, heat shock tests, melting resistance assessments, and scoopability tests, followed by generating detailed reports.
  • Manage an inventory of ingredients and finished products in the laboratory and main freezer, including shopping for supplies, conducting benchmarking sessions, and ensuring all ingredients are appropriately labeled with use-by dates.
  • Facilitate factory trials and participate in all initial productions of new products, ensuring a smooth transition to Production and Technical teams while completing all necessary documentation.
Candidate Profile

To qualify for the NPD Support Specialist position, you should hold a degree or equivalent qualification in a food science-related field and/or have relevant experience in food technology, NPD, laboratory work, or similar roles from either a full-time position or university placement.


  • Possess a solid understanding of food safety, technical specifications, and quality standards.
  • Exhibit strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills across all levels.
  • Be a personable individual capable of establishing rapport and maintaining positive working relationships.
Additional Information

The NPD Support Specialist position is based in Hampshire (Winchester) and offers a competitive salary of up to £30,000, commensurate with experience.

Due to the site’s location, having a valid driving license and personal transportation is essential.

Standard working hours are from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with flexibility required for production trials.
