Job Title: Community Specialist

At Northwestern Community Services Board, we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Community Specialist to join our team. As a Community Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing peer-to-peer support services to individuals with Mental Illness and/or Substance Use Disorder.

Job Summary:

The Community Specialist will work closely with our team to provide non-clinical group and individual sessions to promote recovery and resiliency. You will offer emotional support, share knowledge, teach skills, and provide practical assistance to individuals served, connecting them with resources, opportunities, and communities of support.

Responsibilities:
  1. Provide peer-to-peer support services to individuals with Mental Illness and/or Substance Use Disorder.
  2. Develop and implement individualized wellness-recovery plans that reflect the needs and preferences of individuals served.
  3. Collaborate with the team to ensure the delivery of high-quality services that promote recovery and resiliency.
  4. Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
  5. Travel within the NWCSB coverage area as required.
Qualifications:
  1. High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  2. Lived experience of recovery with at least one year of stability/sobriety.
  3. Completion of Virginia Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Services (DBHDS) 72-hour Peer-Based Specialized Training required.
  4. Valid Driver's License and good driving record required.
