Job Title: Principal Project Engineer

Mission:

This role demands a proactive, customer-focused mindset, showcasing complete ownership and accountability for the execution and finalization of projects in collaboration with clients. It also necessitates close cooperation with fellow Engineers, Project Managers, Operations Managers, and the Commercial Team to identify and support additional sales opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct engineering design and commissioning for Digital Power projects, including Health & Safety documentation, Design, and Operations & Maintenance documentation.
  • Manage and deliver multiple projects to clients through Schneider Electric's Quality Management System and Health and Safety Management System.
  • Oversee full technical management of the projects.
  • Identify project challenges and implement proactive strategies to resolve them efficiently and promptly.
  • Act as a representative for Digital Power, fostering key relationships with clients and contractors. Participate in site meetings with clients, contractors, subcontractors, and consultants as necessary.
  • Be prepared to travel and occasionally work away from home within the UK or internationally.
Skills and Attributes:
  • Demonstrated relevant work experience and a solid track record in Project Management practices related to automation control projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of modern control systems in electrical automation applications (e.g., SCADA, RTUs) and preferably experience with Schneider Electric products such as T300, Saitel RTU, Micom, Sepam, meters, etc.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard protocols such as Modbus, IEC61850, DNP3, and related cybersecurity measures for designing communications for common utility and industrial applications.
  • Knowledgeable about MV and LV electrical networks, three-phase power, switchgear, etc.
  • Protection experience would be advantageous.
  • Ability to develop engineering solutions from concept through to site commissioning and witnessing.
  • Capable of building strong customer relationships and collaborating effectively with the sales team for change order management.
  • Fluency in English (both written and verbal) is essential; proficiency in another language would be beneficial.
  • Possess a full driving license and a valid passport.
Education:
  • Qualified to an Engineering degree level or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline.
