Project AimThis funding initiative seeks to tackle significant urban challenges as cities strive towards a more sustainable economic model. Projects must involve a participant from a UK research organization eligible for UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) funding.
Funding is specifically allocated for topics related to the '15-minute city' thematic area, emphasizing the importance of localized urban living.
Eligibility CriteriaTo qualify for this funding opportunity, the UK component of the international project must include an applicant affiliated with a UK research organization that meets UKRI eligibility standards. Participants can be at any academic career stage, but the project team must possess relevant skills and experience suitable for the proposed project.
Collaborative submissions from multiple UK applicants are permitted, with one designated as the UK National Contact Point (UK project lead), responsible for the project's UK component and adherence to funding conditions.
Project Team RequirementsConsortia must consist of partners from at least three different countries, with a minimum of two being EU member states or associated with Horizon Europe. Each project team must include at least one urban government authority, either in a funded or unfunded role.
Funding Focus AreasThe DUT partnership emphasizes three critical urban sectors and their interconnections. Proposals addressing topics across multiple Transition Pathways are encouraged, although each proposal must identify a primary topic for evaluation.
UK funding is exclusively available for components that align with the 15-minute City Transition Pathway, which promotes sustainable urban mobility and planning.
Funding AllocationUp to £2,100,000 is available for UK applicants, with individual project costs capped at £400,000. Funding will typically cover 80% of the total economic cost.
Collaboration with additional eligible UK partners, including non-profit and public sector organizations, is encouraged but not mandatory.
Application ProcessApplications must adhere to the specified guidelines and include necessary documentation. The application process will involve a two-stage procedure, starting with pre-proposals followed by full proposals for those deemed eligible.
Evaluation CriteriaProposals will be assessed based on:
- Excellence and intellectual merit
- Impact and engagement with users
- Quality and efficiency of project implementation
