We are seeking a highly skilled research associate to join our team at NERC - the Natural Environment Research Council, in a collaborative partnership to develop design-led solutions for the green transition.
Project Overview
The project aims to explore the concept of more-than-human design, which involves designing for impact beyond humans. This requires considering the non-human centred world view and its implications for the future.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop design-led solutions for the green transition, focusing on areas such as the natural world, materials, health and wellbeing, urban environments, and technology and artificial intelligence (AI).
- Collaborate with academic supervisors and non-academic partners to ensure the project's objectives are met.
- Conduct research and analysis to inform the design process.
- Communicate project findings and outcomes to stakeholders.
Requirements
- Early career arts and humanities design research associate with a strong background in design-led research.
- Academic supervisor with expertise in arts and humanities design-led disciplines.
- Non-academic partner with a specific challenge relevant to the green transition.
- Research associate and supervisor must be based at a UK research organisation eligible for UKRI funding.
Working Arrangements
- Part-time applicants (minimum of 0.6 full-time equivalent) are welcome.
- Job share applications for the research associate will be considered, provided both candidates meet the eligibility criteria.
Eligibility
- Each project must involve a research associate, academic supervisor, and non-academic partner.
- The research associate and supervisor must be based at a UK research organisation eligible for UKRI funding.
- Non-academic partners must be micro or small and medium-sized enterprises, UK registered businesses, charities, or not-for-profit organisations.
