Plumbing Maintenance Engineer
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde stands as one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK, employing approximately 40,000 professionals across various clinical and non-clinical roles. Our mission is to deliver comprehensive acute hospital, primary, community, and mental health care services to a diverse population exceeding 1.15 million, expanding to 2.2 million when including our regional and national services.
In alignment with NHS Scotland's initiative to reduce the full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours, effective from April 2024, this position reflects the new working hours. It is important to note that some service areas may not immediately transition to the 37-hour workweek, and you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes weekly temporarily, for which compensation will be provided until the service adjusts its rosters.
Position Overview:
- Role: Maintenance Technician - Band 5 (Plumbing Focus - 1 Position)
- Working Hours: 37 hours per week, day shift (Monday to Friday) with on-call responsibilities
- Salary: Band 5 (£30,229 - £37,644)
An exciting opportunity is available for a dedicated and skilled Maintenance Technician with a plumbing background within the Estates Department at Vale of Leven Hospital. You will be responsible for maintaining all sites and properties under the department's jurisdiction.
The primary objective of the department is to provide a safe, effective, and efficient estates service that supports both clinical and administrative functions within healthcare and acute hospital facilities.
As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will engage in both planned and reactive maintenance and repair services concerning all aspects of engineering and building services, including plant and equipment.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Completion of a recognized and registered apprenticeship with post-apprenticeship experience in Plumbing, equivalent to SVQ Level 4 or Higher National Diploma.
- A proven track record demonstrating practical core skills and application within your trade.
- Willingness to undertake work in other disciplines, with training provided as necessary.
- Possession of HNC, B/Tech, or City & Guilds Level 3 Advanced Craft qualification or equivalent.
- A current full UK Drivers Licence for category 'B' vehicles is essential.
- Participation in an out-of-hours on-call rota is required to meet service needs.
- Occasional unscheduled overtime or unsocial hours may be necessary to complete emergency repairs and ensure service continuity.
Inclusivity Statement:
