About the Role:

The 14+ Through Care Team at Powys County Council focuses on providing a supportive environment for Children Looked After during their adolescence and into adulthood.

We strive to ensure the wellbeing, stability, educational achievement, safety, and positive outcomes for all of our Children Looked After through collaborative working with them, parents/carers, and professionals.

The team consists of experienced Social Workers, Personal Advisors, Support Workers, and a Team Coordinator who assists with various tasks, including organizing and minuting meetings, preparing chronologies, and general business support.

About You:

A passion for supporting disadvantaged young people to achieve positive outcomes is essential.

Key skills in engaging with and building a rapport with adolescents who may be difficult to engage and display challenging behavior are required.

The ability to identify risk and manage complex situations is crucial.

Strong assessment and written skills are necessary for this role.

A team player with the ability to work with a range of professionals from different agencies and work independently as required is essential.

A flexible approach to working and a can-do attitude are also required.

Knowledge and skills, or the willingness to learn, around working with Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children are beneficial.

Key Responsibilities:

To provide a social work service to young people, ensuring their safety and enabling them to achieve their full potential.

To work as part of a team, undertaking tasks on a duty rotational basis, and providing cover for absent colleagues.

To foster and maintain good working relationships with colleagues and partners that enable the team to work effectively.

To identify risk issues in relation to the circumstances of individual children and ensure safeguarding measures are in place to minimize risk.
