Role Overview

We are pleased to announce an opportunity for a Junior Quantity Surveyor to join our Area 9 team. You will be assigned to a location that is most convenient for you, contributing to the administration of the Area 9 Maintenance and Response Contract. Reporting directly to the Senior Quantity Surveyor, your role will involve supporting the Commercial team in managing costs and values throughout the contract lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

As a Junior Quantity Surveyor, your duties will include:

  • Assisting in the compilation of data for monthly reports and other commercial activities associated with the contract.
  • Providing timely and accurate reports as needed.
  • Supporting the pricing of new projects in line with contract stipulations.
  • Managing subcontractor work packages effectively.
  • Identifying and analyzing Key Performance Indicators and evaluating changes through rate analysis or compensation methods.
  • Participating in the preparation, negotiation, and agreement of interim and final accounts, ensuring compliance with standard measurement methods.
  • Collaborating closely with Quantity Surveyors to ensure that framework quotations and pricing are issued promptly and adhere to contract conditions.
  • Ensuring all commercial activities align with Colas' corporate governance and group standards.
  • Undertaking additional tasks as assigned by your line manager.
Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess a degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field within Construction. While experience in the highways sector is preferred, we welcome applicants from finance backgrounds as well.

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential. You should be adaptable, highly organized, and proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook. A valid UK driving license is a requirement for this position.

Compensation Package
