Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Locum Consultant Nephrologist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a consultation service and advisory service to other clinical colleagues in other specialties within the Trust and Primary Care. Key responsibilities include participating in the development of the Nephrology service, treatment protocols and guidelines, and collaborating with medical colleagues in other specialties. **Key Responsibilities:**

* Provide a consultation service and advisory service to other clinical colleagues in other specialties within the Trust and Primary Care
* Participate in the development of the Nephrology service, treatment protocols and guidelines
* Collaborate with medical colleagues in other specialties
* Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with medical colleagues in other specialties
* Participate in regular clinical meetings and other postgraduate activities
* Take responsibility for the professional supervision and development of trainee doctors within the specialty
* Demonstrate a firm involvement in Clinical Governance, Risk Management and Clinical Audit
* Comply with all relevant Trust Policies and Procedures

**Main Duties:**

* Daily Ward Rounds on Ward 15
* General medical, nephrology, diabetes and endocrine patients are admitted to these 27 bedded wards
* Delivery of outpatient clinics
* Inpatient Acute Kidney Injury service for all stages 2 and 3 AKIs
* Assist in the Cardio renal service in the Trust in collaboration with the Cardiology department
* Participation in one session a week for the acute medicine department
* Participation in primary care education about chronic kidney disease and develop shared care strategies with primary care
* Database work and reviewing all CKD with eGFR

**Requirements:**

* Strong background in nephrology
* Excellent communication skills
* Ability to work collaboratively with medical colleagues in other specialties
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
