We are looking for an individual with knowledge and experience in local government structures and administration. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support to the Democratic Services team, ensuring accurate and timely completion of tasks.
  • Assist in the preparation and distribution of meeting materials, including agendas and minutes.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of the council's constitution and associated documents, providing guidance and support to colleagues and councillors.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and Teams, to manage and analyze data.
  • Travel to attend meetings at various locations, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
  • Work effectively in a political environment, maintaining political neutrality and sensitivity.
  • Collaborate with local government members, understanding their roles and responsibilities.
  • Manage competing deadlines and priorities, ensuring seamless delivery of services.

Requirements:

  • Excellent literacy and numeracy skills, with the ability to interpret and apply complex information.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Basic knowledge of local government, including the roles of councillors and officers.
  • Experience in minute-taking and administrative support.
  • Ability to work outside standard office hours, as required.
