Here, you will be at the forefront of the energy sector.

We pride ourselves on maintaining the highest standards in all aspects of our operations, particularly in how we nurture, appreciate, and develop our workforce. Our goal is to empower employees to excel and reach their full potential. We celebrate the unique contributions that individuals from diverse backgrounds bring to our organization and actively encourage applications from candidates with varied experiences. Our department encompasses a wide array of categories, including Indirect, IT & Digital, Network Operations (Maintenance & Repair), Gas Equipment and Services, as well as large-scale Construction and Network Equipment. Our clear mission is to foster a clean, equitable, and affordable energy future through innovative and responsible supply chain leadership.

About The Role

We are excited to announce several openings for Supply Chain Risk Specialists to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis.

The Supply Chain Risk Specialist will assist the Supply Chain Risk Manager in evaluating, measuring, and analyzing the performance of National Grid's supply chain. This role will provide valuable insights to Global Procurement Leadership and Category Teams.

As National Grid leads the transition to a Net Zero future in the UK and NE of the USA, we understand that decarbonizing our energy systems will involve addressing numerous challenges and forming new partnerships, adopting innovative technologies, and making transformative investments. Over the next five years, we plan to invest over £60 billion across our UK and US operations—nearly double the investment made in the previous five years. This is a pivotal moment for our industry, creating significant opportunities for National Grid; it is not merely a fleeting moment but a transformative era that will shape our success for decades ahead.

In light of these developments, our supply chains are confronted with unprecedented challenges and are integral to our strategic plans, positioning National Grid Procurement at the heart of our Net Zero objectives. We have outlined an ambitious transformation strategy, focusing on becoming the preferred partner for our supply chain while ensuring exceptional outcomes for our Business Units (BUs). Our approach centers on significant changes in three primary areas:

Collaboration: We are strengthening our relationships with supply chain partners, aligning more closely with each NG Group Business Unit (BU). Scale: We are harnessing the vast scale of our organization to unlock even greater potential. By leveraging our collective strength, we can achieve remarkable results. Operational Innovation: We are transforming our operational practices. By embracing new methodologies and technologies, we are streamlining processes to enhance efficiency in our daily operations.

What You'll Do

This position will deliver current and predictive insights on category, supplier, and market risks, fostering a deeper understanding that drives continuous improvement. The outputs will generate intelligence that supports actionable decision-making while mitigating risks and ensuring tangible value is realized through National Grid's global supply chain.

Collaborate with key stakeholders to identify and comprehend category strategies, providing supply chain risk insights that create immediate and long-term value. Develop solutions that utilize existing tools while proposing new opportunities to enhance transparency and evaluation of National Grid's Supply Chain, creating efficiencies and insights for stakeholders. Provide regular reporting and insights to supplier relationship managers and the global procurement leadership team, including information on supply chain risks, market insights, evaluated products, and an assessment of delivered value. Extract insights from both internal and external data, refining processes for category intelligence that empower stakeholders to make impactful decisions. Enhance the global perspective on the performance of National Grid's critical and strategic supply chain, identifying, reporting, and raising awareness of supply chain risks, category markets, supplier performance, and opportunities to achieve strategic objectives. Implement processes for performance data analysis and insights to support and initiate continuous improvement initiatives. Leverage a comprehensive view of risks in categories and suppliers to derive insights from an operational standpoint, identifying opportunities for both short- and long-term category strategies. Manage real-time supply chain risk transparency, offering active and alternative countermeasures that bolster procurement operational effectiveness.

About You

Proven ability to cultivate strong relationships across all levels of the organization, including engaging and influencing senior management stakeholders. Experienced global market analyst capable of preparing presentations that convey key insights and articulate solution options in a clear and effective manner to support procurement strategies. Proficient in developing and managing information intelligence processes that identify current states and forecast market opportunities, providing realistic options. Background in supply chain management, global sourcing, market analysis, and collaboration within global enterprise environments. Self-motivated, resourceful individual with a solid understanding of market analysis, ERP systems, third-party software, data normalization, and proficiency in MS Office Suite.

What You'll Get
