Recent Sustainability Challenges
  • Foresight: We help clients anticipate the future of circularity of plastics, considering multiple stakeholder viewpoints and developing strategies for operating in the circular economy.
  • Strategy: Our team assists clients in achieving systems change in complex multi-stakeholder systems, unlocking sustainability opportunities.
  • Net Zero Roadmap: We develop low-carbon technology roadmaps for clients, encompassing current technology plans and newly identified technologies to close the emissions gap.
  • Appraising Alternative Technologies: We evaluate solutions to replace current surfactant sources, assessing their technical, commercial, and sustainability viability.
Key ResponsibilitiesProject Delivery
  • Lead and deliver projects that deliver business value to clients.
  • Effectively communicate actionable recommendations and articulate key sustainability messages with clear strategic storytelling.
  • Write engaging reports, drawing on expertise from across internal and external Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
  • Manage multiple projects independently across different clients with minimal supervision to meet tight and concurring deadlines.
  • Coordinate and manage project teams, allocating tasks, providing guidance, and monitoring delivery of workstreams.
  • Manage project plans, including project setup, budget monitoring, invoicing, and project closure to ensure project profitability and customer satisfaction.
Business and Sustainability Practice Development
  • Contribute to the expansion of our sustainability team, developing new service offerings, producing insightful material, and articulating sustainability challenges through thought leadership.
  • Lead development of new proposals and projects in close coordination with business development teams.
  • Recognize and understand how the sustainability landscape is changing due to policy, technological, and commercial developments, and identify potential future client needs.
Client and Team Interaction
  • Understand the commercial, technical, and strategic factors affecting clients and their potential impact on their business.
  • Develop long-term relationships with clients, becoming their trusted advisor.
  • Engage with client stakeholders at various levels, from practitioner to C-Suite executives, leading and delivering meetings and facilitating workshops.
  • Present project work at internal and external meetings.
  • Build effective working relationships with colleagues across Sagentia Innovation and its sister companies.
  • Coach and mentor junior team members.
Adherence to Group Policies and Processes
  • Maintain client confidentiality.
  • Ensure adherence to group project management practices, policies, and processes to deliver projects on time, budget, and quality.
Experience and Qualifications
  • Master's degree (essential) or PhD in a scientific discipline (e.g., chemistry, physics, biosciences, environmental science). Experience in sustainability-related areas preferred.
  • Previous consulting experience (essential).
  • Experience in managing projects to tight timescales and budgets.
  • Passion for, knowledge, and working experience of sustainability, e.g., sustainability strategy, circularity, emissions reduction, water stewardship, waste reduction.
  • Ability to explain ideas clearly and concisely, effectively communicating and creating buy-in to ideas and recommendations.
  • Ability to efficiently deal with multiple tasks and prioritize under pressure.
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to work.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate good project coordination and attention to detail.
