About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Air Quality Specialist to join our team at AtkinsRéalis. As a key member of our Air Quality and Emissions team, you will play a crucial role in delivering technically excellent work and providing high-quality services to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and undertake air quality surveys, analyzing and interpreting data to inform project decisions.
  • Produce air quality, dust, odour, and carbon assessments for a range of infrastructure projects, including transportation, energy, and land development.
  • Advise on and identify solutions for mitigating the effects of air pollution and carbon emissions, ensuring compliance with relevant policies and standards.
  • Prepare and deliver a range of reports, including technical reports, project updates, and stakeholder briefings.
  • Manage your own workload and that of others within defined budgets and programs, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality results.
  • Contribute to business development activities, including bid writing and proposal development, to secure new work for the team.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices, applying this knowledge to improve our services and deliver exceptional results.
Requirements
  • Higher degree qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant scientific subject, such as environmental science, chemistry, or physics.
  • Knowledge of a range of air quality and carbon issues, including relevant policies and standards, such as the UK's Air Quality Strategy and the EU's Emissions Trading System.
  • Experience of a range of modeling and assessment techniques, including dispersion modeling and emissions inventory analysis.
  • Experience of analyzing and interpreting data using spreadsheet and GIS-based tools, such as Excel and ArcGIS.
  • Experience of reporting and presenting to different stakeholders, including technical reports, project updates, and stakeholder briefings.
  • Proficient in standard IT applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • An understanding of the importance of health and safety risk management, including the development and implementation of safety protocols and procedures.
  • A full valid UK driving license and willingness to travel for surveys and site visits.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Prior experience of working in air quality consultancy, including experience of preparing emission inventories for dispersion models and conducting air quality surveys.
  • Experience of using statistical analysis packages and/or computer programming languages, such as R or Python.
  • Experience of working with other environmental specialisms, including ecology, hydrology, and geology.
  • Experience of working unsupervised on site, including managing teams and leading projects.
  • Experience of project management, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
