Job Description

Job Title: Teaching Assistant - Support Staff

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our team at Teaching Vacancies. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the teacher and pupils in the classroom, ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the teacher in planning and delivering lessons, adapting to the needs of individual pupils.
  • Assist with the supervision and safety of pupils, both in and out of lesson times.
  • Help to establish good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and being aware of and responding to individual needs.
  • Support the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils, promoting a positive and respectful learning environment.
  • Encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher.
  • Prepare the classroom for lessons and clear afterwards, assisting with the display of pupil's work.
  • Be aware of pupil problems/progress/achievements and report to the teacher as agreed.
  • Undertake pupil record keeping as requested.
  • Support the teacher in managing pupil behaviour, reporting difficulties as appropriate.
  • Gather/report information from/to parents/carers as directed.
  • Provide clerical/admin. support, including photocopying, typing, filing, and collecting money.
  • Support pupils in understanding instructions and using basic IT as directed.
  • Prepare and maintain equipment/resources as directed by the teacher and assist pupils in their use.
  • Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety, and security, confidentiality, and data protection.
  • Support difference and ensure all pupils have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop.
  • Promote the ethos of Middleton St Mary's School.
  • Appreciate and support the role of other professionals.
  • Attend relevant meetings as required.
  • Participate in training and other learning activities and performance development as required.
