GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Support Specialist to join our team at a co-educational secondary school.

As a Residential Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing care and support to adults within the school community. This unique opportunity allows you to work in a supportive and inclusive environment where your contributions are highly valued.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with staff members to ensure the well-being of all students.
  • Provide comprehensive care and support to students in a residential setting.
  • Assist students with daily routines, including morning and evening activities.
  • Support students' educational and personal development goals.
  • Foster a safe and inclusive environment that adheres to the school's policies.
  • Contribute to managing student behavior and addressing any arising issues.
  • Participate actively in team meetings and contribute to the planning and review of student support plans.
  • Monitor and document student progress, reporting any concerns to relevant staff members.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Residential Support Specialist or in a similar role is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting young adults.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in social care or education is beneficial.
  • Possess an updated CV (covering the last ten years) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).

Please note: This role requires a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection. Successful applicants must undergo all necessary background checks, including an enhanced DBS on the update service.
