We are seeking to fill the role of Young Person Resilience Worker. This team focuses on supporting young individuals facing challenges related to substance use, whether personally or through loved ones. The Young Person's team operates within the Integrated Substance Misuse service.

Documentation is a key aspect of this role, so a penchant for detail and organization is essential. However, the primary focus will be on engaging with individuals from diverse backgrounds and making a meaningful impact in their lives. Each day presents new challenges, and we treat every individual as unique, making flexibility, curiosity, and active listening crucial attributes.

Location: Walsall

Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week (full-time)

Compensation: £27, £31,529.41 based on experience (pro-rated for part-time)

Contract Type: 12-month fixed-term contract

Key Responsibilities

Role Highlights:

  • Engage with young individuals in a practical and meaningful manner, empowering them to seek ongoing support.
  • Collaborate closely with partners in Youth Justice Services.
  • Adopt a holistic approach to assess needs and create a collaborative support package for young individuals, including brief interventions, harm reduction strategies, one-on-one sessions, group activities, and clinical support.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of service users and develop personalized care plans that clearly outline how achieving each goal will facilitate progress in addressing substance use and related issues.
  • Work in conjunction with the service's Safeguarding Lead to ensure all concerns are addressed promptly and effectively.
  • Perform risk assessments and develop risk management strategies.
  • Respond to the needs of young individuals, ensuring that interventions are accessible, including home visits and collaboration with educational institutions.

Candidate Profile:

  • Experience working with young individuals.
  • Understanding of contemporary issues affecting youth.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding matters concerning children, young people, and adults.
  • Awareness of substance use issues.
  • Proven ability to build strong working relationships with both internal and external partners.
  • Experience in engaging with young individuals who use substances.
  • Capability to deliver training to diverse audiences across various settings.
