Ideal Candidate:
  • Must possess a relevant qualification.
  • Significant experience working with children and young people who have engaged in offending behavior.
  • Proficient in complex risk management.
  • Capable of managing multi-agency services for children and families.
  • Familiarity with best practices for children who offend and trauma-informed methodologies.

Requirements:
  • A social work qualification, probation officer qualification, or a relevant degree such as a BA in youth justice or criminology is essential.
  • The candidate must hold the Professional Certificate in Effective Practice (PCEP) or Youth Justice Effective Practice Certificate (YJEPC) or be willing to obtain this qualification within the first year of employment.

Our Mission:
Walsall Youth Justice Service operates as a multi-agency partnership established under relevant legislation, with the primary goal of reducing youth offending and re-offending.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with children and young people at risk of entering the youth justice system to prevent first-time offenses.
  • Support children involved with law enforcement, including those receiving out-of-court disposals and those convicted in court.
  • Work with children in secure facilities, ensuring effective resettlement back into the community.
  • Oversee services for victims of youth crime, including restorative justice initiatives.
