About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated individual to join our Visual Impairment Team as a Senior Specialist Learning Support Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on the education and lives of visually impaired children and young people.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality support to children and young people with visual impairments in a variety of educational settings.
  • Work collaboratively with schools, professionals, and other agencies to ensure inclusive education for children with sensory impairments.
  • Develop and implement strategies to support children with complex needs and ensure they receive the appropriate support and teaching to achieve their full potential.
  • Manage a caseload and work with parents to support their children's education and well-being.
  • Contribute to the development of the Visual Impairment Team's work and ensure best practice in supporting children with visual impairments.
Requirements
  • Experience of working as a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant in a school setting or substantial experience of working with children with special educational needs, particularly those with a vision impairment.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to work with computers and assistive technology.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to delivering high-quality support to children and young people.
