Job Purpose

Reporting to the Chief Design Officer, this role plays a vital part in enhancing our design team's capabilities from initial research and insights through to manufacturing readiness. You will contribute to a diverse and expanding product portfolio, encompassing mobile phone, laptop, tablet accessories, and screen protection solutions.

As a CMF Designer, you will be responsible for bringing products to market. Collaborating daily with Product Design, Category Managers, Marketers, Project, Engineering, and Quality Control Teams, you will become an integral part of Tech21's launch programs. Your ability to analyze data, communicate design rationale, and understand the technical, functional, cost, and manufacturing implications of your designs is crucial.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of category-leading CMF Designs for our products, guiding them from concept through various stages of development and into production.
  • Support the maintenance of a comprehensive internal library of inspirational, advanced, and relevant materials and finishes, as well as CMF design Masters.
  • Ideate and develop colors, materials, and finishes to bring CMF Design narratives to life.
  • Actively contribute to the growth of the CMF function at Tech21.
  • Explore new resources for materials to enhance innovation.
  • Build strong relationships with internal teams, including Purchasing, Finance, Quality, Engineering, and Project Teams, to ensure project success.
  • Guide project teams and clients through the design process, from identifying opportunities to crafting end-to-end solutions.
  • Plan and facilitate workshops and work sessions with internal teams, clients, and individuals from diverse backgrounds and areas of expertise.
  • Support Tech21's new business efforts by shaping proposal approaches alongside the business development team.
  • Collaborate closely with the wider Product Design and Engineering teams.
  • Liaise with partner manufacturers, often working on collaborative design projects, ensuring that Tech21 brand values are consistently upheld while expanding the product portfolio.
  • Assist in project planning and provide technical support to project execution and timelines.
  • Discuss and resolve complex problems with manufacturing departments, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Share your expertise in strategic thinking, design research, and design methods, facilitating collaboration within the team.
