Job Summary

The Loom Technician will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance of textile manufacturing equipment, including Rapier and Waterjet looms. This role requires a strong understanding of weaving processes and a keen eye for detail to diagnose and resolve issues efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and resolve cloth and mechanical defects on textile manufacturing equipment
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on looms to ensure optimal performance
  • Ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures and Preventative Maintenance schedules
  • Assist with major overhauls and upgrades of textile manufacturing equipment
  • Collaborate with production teams to minimize downtime and optimize production efficiency
  • Monitor and control the use of weaving spares to minimize waste and optimize inventory
  • Maintain high levels of quality, efficiency, and maintenance in textile manufacturing processes
  • Ensure all loom settings are accurate and compliant with specifications
  • Comply with Health & Safety practices and Company policies
  • Report all accidents and incidents as required

Requirements

  • Experience working with Rapier and Waterjet looms
  • Strong understanding of weaving processes and textile manufacturing principles
  • Excellent health and safety practices and knowledge
  • Reliable and enthusiastic team player with strong communication skills
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
  • Able to work to given tolerances and measurements
  • Organized and able to prioritize tasks effectively
  • Ability to communicate at all levels
  • Understanding of Kanban systems, standard work, and C.S.D. (continuous skills development)
  • Experience following Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) manuals
  • Knowledge of Barco and Lean practices advantageous

Working Conditions

  • Shift work - 4 on/4 off, 2 days/2 nights
  • Location: Bury site
