Position Overview

The successful candidate will assist the Lead Radiographic Practitioner in delivering an exceptional clinical service within the breast imaging department. Registration as a Radiographer with the Health and Care Professions Council is mandatory. A commitment to working in the breast care unit, along with a high degree of professionalism and sensitivity, is essential. Collaboration with the Breast Surgery and Breast Screening Teams will be crucial to ensure seamless patient care and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

The role involves being an integral member of a multidisciplinary team, fostering effective communication across all departments to enhance patient outcomes. Participation in multidisciplinary team meetings and other relevant discussions is expected.

The practitioner will cultivate an environment of technical excellence within the unit by providing mentorship and support to Assistant Practitioners. Ensuring adherence to the quality assurance protocols as established by the National Breast Screening Quality Assurance Regional Committee is a critical aspect of this role, with timely and accurate reporting of all necessary data to the appropriate authorities.

The standard work schedule is five days a week; however, part-time or job-sharing arrangements may be considered. The role may occasionally require participation in weekend services, subject to agreement with the Director of Diagnostic AHPs.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • HCPC Registration
  • Minimum of 2 years post-graduation experience
  • BSc or equivalent in Diagnostic/Therapeutic Radiography (minimum 2:1)

Desirable:

  • MSc Module in Breast Ultrasound
  • MSc Module in Mammographic Image Interpretation
  • MSc in Breast Interventional Procedures
  • Experience in Team Leadership or Staff Supervision

Professional Development:

Essential:

  • Evidence of Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
  • Comprehensive understanding of patient care in Breast services

Desirable:

  • Experience in Auditing
  • Familiarity with NHS targets
