About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Specialist ADHD Practitioner to join our team at Navigo Health and Social Care CIC. As a Specialist ADHD Practitioner, you will play a key role in supporting the diagnosis and treatment of ADHD, working closely with our multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality care to our service users.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer evidence-based assessment tools to support clinical judgment in the assessment of adults with ADHD.
  • Work as part of a team to diagnose ADHD and signpost individuals who do not meet the ADHD criteria to more appropriate services.
  • Build a caseload of individuals who require medication for the treatment of their ADHD, and support them with input from the Peer Support Worker and other NICE-approved interventions.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) approaches, supporting the triage and screening of referrals, discussions relating to diagnostic assessments, and treatment/prescribing of medication.
  • Manage and coordinate community-led clinics, sharing management of medication interventions with the Consultant Psychiatrist(s) and working within agreed protocols and guidelines.
  • Participate in the administration and interpretation of specific assessment tools within ADHD assessment, communicating results to the MDT.
  • Act as a specialist expert resource within the service, supporting families and other healthcare professionals, and attending multi-agency meetings to advise, write specialist reports, and plan care.
  • Participate in and lead complex MDT clinics to assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate treatment/interventions and care for individuals with ADHD.
Person Specification
  • Registered healthcare professional (e.g., NMC or HCPC)
  • Non-Medical Prescribing Qualification or willingness to undertake this course
  • Specific training in Neurodiversity (desirable)
Knowledge and Understanding
  • Excellent understanding of mental health conditions and services, including relevant legislation
  • Knowledge and understanding of the assessment and management of service users in determining whether presentations may be due to ADHD or other differential diagnoses
  • Good knowledge of typical and disordered child development and the potential impact of ADHD on emotional, intellectual, and social development, and ability to recognize co-morbidities and secondary behaviors
  • Knowledge of equality, diversity, inclusion, and human rights and its importance
Experience
  • Experience of working with adults with a wide range of mental health or neurodiverse conditions
  • Demonstratable experience of complete decision-making and leading complex case multidisciplinary meetings
  • Previous experience in managing highly complex cases
  • Previous mentor or supervisory role and ability to demonstrate principles and values of clinical supervision
  • Significant experience where a degree of autonomous working has been required
Additional Criteria
  • Effective communicator with service users, relatives, and all members of the multidisciplinary healthcare team involved in primary and secondary care
  • Ability to work in a calm and efficient manner in situations of significant workload, with the ability to manage own caseload and effectively assess risk
  • Ability to investigate clinical presentations using evidence-based tools and clinical judgment as part of an MDT
  • Knowledge and understanding of cultural and equal opportunities issues
  • Comprehensive understanding of Crisis/Contingency and risk management planning
